Wild Young Hearts is a fun, youthful offering to today’s audience.
The Noisettes broke free to the masses early in ’09 with their joyful tune “Never Forget You”-nod to the musical styles of the 60′s.
Wild Young Hearts stars off positively upbeat with its self titled track. Wild Young Hearts metaphorically plays on changing with the seasons. “I’m not what I was last summer
Not who I was in the spring. “Tell me, tell me, tell me when will we learn; We love it and we leave it and we watch it burn. “Damn these wild young hearts”.
Don’t Upset the Rhythm is a bag full of rhythmic funk and sass. The aggressive chorus compels you to vibe it out uncontrollably from beginning to end.
It’s all out war on the the revenge written track Saturday Night. A scornful Shingai Shoniaw lets her former ex know that she’s got the cards stacked in her favor. “I’m gonna put you in your place You’ve got the queen; I’ve got the ace”. The onslaught continues with lyrics ‘I’ll light you up and smoke you down I’ll watch you world come tumbling down”.
Shingai Shoniaw can’t disguise her love any longer on the beautifully composed Atticus-titled borrowed fictional character in Hitchcock’s To Kill A Mocking Bird. There’s a sense of vulnerability and sorrow noticeably present in Shoniwa’s voice.
Shingai Shoniwa ponders on the thought of what could have been on the chill 24 Hours. Beat of My Heart builds a sudden wave of intensity as the song progresses. The guitar 2:10 minutes onward, is like experiencing a adrenaline rush.
Cheap Kicks is the perfect candidate to close off the solid Wild Young Hearts. The last few notes leave a long lasting impact during the final closing seconds.
Wild Young Hearts is consistent from beginning to end. It’s like opening the diary of singer Shingai Shoniaw, and exploring the lessons, revenge and heartbreak she’s experienced in her life.
