This week the Queen of Hip-Hop and R&B, Mary J. Blige releases her eight studio album Growing Pains, follow up to the Grammy Award-winning album The Breakthrough.
Just a year after HoodStar Chingy is already releasing his fourth studio album Hate It or Love It. For the album Chingy worked with producers Timbaland, Kanye West, and Just Blaze. The lead single “Fly Like Me” with singer Amerie is steadily climbing up the charts.
Lupe Fiasco releases his sophomore disc The Cool via Atlantic Records. The Chicago native is hoping to find sucess with the new album.
Fiasco explains that the Cool “is actually the little boy from ‘He Say/She Say’ who grew up without a father. And the people that step in to raise him are the Streets and the Game, like how people also say, ‘The streets raised me.’ It’s an answer to that.” Before anyone gets too confused, Fiasco clarifies that the entire album doesn’t adhere to the concept. Outside of the aforementioned four songs, “The Cool” is another helping of left-of-center hip-hop, often with a melodic, jazzy vibe.SOURCE
