Onitsuka Tiger Spring Collection

Posted by Geordae On March - 25 - 2010

1940 was the birth year of Onitsuka’s footwear company. Founder Mr. Kihachiro carefully studied in Japan at Kobe University for six months looking at the wants and needs of an high school basketball team. From his time spent there, Mr. Kihachiro learned the barefooted players needed comfortable and more importantly durable footwear.

Throughout the years, Onitsuka Tiger has supplied the sporting industry with groundbreaking footwear including the MAGICRUNNER shoe-released in 1950. In the 1960′s Onitsuka Tiger had several signature footwear out in that year. This included the RUNPARK DS which has interchangeable spikes, and who can forget the NIPPON 60 delegation shoe? This particular shoe was specially for the 1960 Rome Olympics. What’s unique about the RUNPARK DS it has the signature ASICS logo, which Onitsuka still uses on its footwear till this day.

The 70′s would see Onitsuka releasing classic apparel for buyers. Around that same time Mr. Onitsuka also introduced US audiences to his new brand ASICS. The rest as they say is history.
