Ending in week: January 11-15th.
Our #1 story this week is the 7.0 Earthquake that hit Haiti earlier in the week. The disastrous event has left many hurt, several missing and thousands killed. People from all over the world have banded together to provide services for the people of Haiti. As of today Yele Haiti has joined forces with several top organizations to help those in need. For more information and to see how you can contribute visit www.yele.org.
#2 It’s safe to say that all is NOT well in late night programming. Jay Leno may be on good terms with NBC, but Connan O’ Brien isn’t sharing the same sentiments. The popular late night host has been furious at NBC addressing the company in a very telling letter. Read Here: Connan O’ Brien-Sayonara NBC. The brewing feud between Leno and O’ Brien has gotten fellow late night hosts David Letterman , Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel to speak their peace. Can you guess who’s side they’re on? Whether O’ Brien does decide to leave NBC for another network or chooses a later time after the Winter Olympics, fans will be with him every step of the way.
#3 Audiences tune in to American Idol to see the crazy auditions. If you happened to catch Wednesday’s episode, you weren’t disappointed. The judges(Randy Jackson, Kara, Mary J. Blige and Simon headed to the “dirty south”-Atlanta, Georgia. They were met met with contestants who were vocally gifted, those whohad serious anger management problems, and a “Pants on The Ground” singer. Yes, “Pants on the Ground”-an original song by General Larry Platt. The 62 year-old gave everyone a good laugh with his catchy song. Shortly after, just about everyone couldn’t stop singing “Pants on the Ground” as it became the #1 trending topic on Twitter Wednesday night.
#4 Kelis has never been one to hold back. PETA ranted on the “Bossy” singer for her fur get-up . The eccentric singer and mother quickly retaliated against PETA with a open letter to the organization. Like O’ Brien, Kelis is no holds barred:
I feel very strongly about a lot of things such as the sweatshops that spin cotton and the blood on their hands. Btw it’s not just the look of fur. It’s warm as hell and feels glorious, ever rubbed faux fur on your body? Nothing luxurious about that. Then the letter proceeded to name artist and designers who don’t wear real fur. Great! More for me! I don’t judge them, don’t judge me.
More of letter written by Kelis can be read HERE.
