How does New Super Mario Bros. Wii fair against the popular 2D game?
If you grew up with a Nintendo in your household, then you probably remember how fun it was to play Super Mario Bros. Nintendo creators did the unthinkable, reviving the popular 2D game on the Wii gaming console. New Super Mario Wii, released just recently, brings features new and old. The 3-D game adventure allows up to 4 players. Gamers can help one another or compete against each other through challenging levels.
Game hero Mario is up to to usual duties rescuing the damsel in distress Princess Peach. The Italian plumber must to go through 8 complex worlds that are watched over by Bower’s Kids: Larry, Morton, Wendy, Ludwig, Lemmy, Roy, Iggy and Bowser Jr.
It’s notably obvious that the graphics have greatly improved since it’s ’85 release. Nonetheless, the visuals on New Super Mario Bros. Wii are sharp and rich in color. The controlling is fairly easy-you simply turn the Wii remote horizontally. This was a great idea on the developers part because it gives the game nostalgic touch while you’re playing.
Throughout levels, you can gain 1-Ups and Power-Ups to aid you between the game. Also On Super Mario Bros Wii, Mario suits up on several different levels. The Power-Ups include: Fire and Ice Mario, Propeller Mario, Mini Mario ,Super Star Mario , and even a Penguin Mario.
One of the Super Mario Bros. Wii’s best and probably most helpful features is the Super Player Guide. After several failed attempts Lugi guides you through the level you’re on. After the video guide shows the player how it’s done, the gamer has the option to try again or skip the level entirely. Mario must also collect Star Coins-which are pretty tricky to get. Don’t fret, you can always head over the Peach’s castle(World 1) that will show you how you can collect them.
Though it isn’t anything groundbreaking, New Super Mario Wii does a great job of bringing back features of the earlier games, while introducing newer elements. It’s fun and even frustrating at times, but overall Super Mario Wii is an enjoyable game for Mario fans both old and new.
