Some people do prefer the finer things in life. But at the end of the day does it mean anything? The awaited first single “Doesn’t Mean Anything” from Alicia Keys made its debut on the singers website Tuesday, September 15th.

Vocally, it runs in the same vein as “No One“. Lyrically, the content goes in the same direction as “If I Ain’t Got You“. Despite those similarities, “Doesn’t Mean Anything” is a beautifully piano driven ballad.

Alicia bursts at the top of her lungs “All at once I had it all but it doesn’t mean anything
 now that you’re gone”.

The song is brought to a climatic close with the same lyrics slowing fading into the background.The lyrics in “Doesn’t Mean Anything‘”convey a powerful message. And that message is to appreciate the love you have before its gone.

Undoubtedly the new single “Doesn’t Mean Anything” will bring the lovers closer heading into fall, and earn Keys rightfully a top spot on the charts.
